How is this different from an uptime monitor?
Uptime tools tell you whether a page is up. Diffwatch tells you whether the content changed. We run a structural text diff on the rendered HTML and email you a plain‑English summary of what was added, removed, or rewritten — pricing edits, copy edits, TOS rewrites, new job postings, stock changes. We are not a ping/response‑time tool; if that is what you need, use one of the great uptime services and add Diffwatch alongside it.
What exactly counts as a "change"?
A material content change in the rendered HTML — text was added, removed, or rewritten. We normalize the page (strip scripts, ads, timestamps) and ignore noise below a configurable character threshold (default 200 chars). You set how aggressive the filter is. We do not flag CSS‑only restyles, comment changes, date strings that rotate daily, or A/B variants served to bots.
Can I cancel anytime without losing what is already set up?
Yes — cancel any time from the Stripe billing portal in your dashboard. No phone call, no retention email, no dark pattern. When you cancel, all your watches pause, every detection log and snapshot stays accessible for read‑only history, and you can resume from the same place any time. No data is deleted when you cancel a paid plan; it stays in read‑only state and resumes on re‑subscribe.
What will I actually pay?
Free — $0/mo, 3 watches, 30‑minute checks, email alerts. Pro — $12/mo, 25 watches, 5‑minute checks, email + Slack + Discord + signed webhooks, 1 API key (60 req/min). Business — $39/mo, 100 watches, unlimited alert recipients, 10 API keys (600 req/min). No setup fee, no per‑watch fee, no overage charge. You can downgrade at the end of any billing period and your watches stay active at the lower tier caps. See the full plan comparison at /pricing.
What is the difference between Free and Pro — what do I actually get?
Free is for trying Diffwatch and monitoring up to three URLs you care about. Pro is for using it as a daily‑use monitoring tool: faster checks (5 min vs 30 min), Slack/Discord/signed‑webhook alerts in addition to email, 25 watches, and the REST API. Most people start on Free to confirm it works on their use case (pricing page, job board, TOS), then upgrade to Pro once they trust the alerts and need them routed somewhere other than an inbox.
